Average Brightness per block
hi erik, While trying to improve my comskip tuning I've come across what looks like an issue with the averages for each block. Here's a screenshot of the graphs showing 4 blocks. http://nate.dynalias.net/download/comskip/comskip1.png Looking at the brightness at the bottom to begin with, the first t...

I have re-tested this with 0.81.049 and the same thing still happens.

Re: 3 second show block in the middle of commercials
It looks like this issue has been fixed. I have just re-tested the samples with 0.81.049 and it doesn't happen anymore.

Re: feature suggestion: Now and Next detection
In case anyone is using this, I've made some more minor fixes. New Version 1.1.0.19 http://nate.dynalias.net/dev/tsnowandnext.rails Changes: Fixed problem parsing EIT event when the events section is longer than 255 bytes. Added a message when printing events to warn about long gaps without Now EIT ...

Re: Comskip PID confusion in VPrj.files
Hi Jagad, The problem causing Comskip to retrieve the wrong audioPID disappears when trying to cutting out a 50Mb file with Videoredo. When I was writing TSNowAndNext I wrote a really simple app for coping a range of bytes out of a ts file so that I could test with smaller files. You could give that...

Re: Detect Red Area
Hi Rob,
I think you're after the Cutscene functionality. I haven't used it myself but there are descriptions of the settings for it in the comskip.txt file.
cheers,
Nate

min_silence weird behaviour
Hi erik, I've noticed some weird behaviour with the min_silence setting in both 0.81.018 and 0.80.042. I've turned off validate_silence to simplify things. When I look in the logs I'm seeing entries in the black frame list caused by volume, that have less than min_silence frames. For example, with m...

3 second show block in the middle of commercials
Hi erik, I've come across a file where comskip is leaving a 3.28 second show block with a score of 1.00 in the middle of commercials. I don't have any heuristics disabled so I thought it would normally have been removed? I can see that it's combining blocks 12 and 13 totaling 41.28 seconds, but not ...

Re: feature suggestion: Now and Next detection
Hi erik, I've updated a few things in my code. The changes you'll be interested in are in revision 10. And for anyone else who wants to download a compiled version I've added it to my website http://nate.dynalias.net/dev/tsnowandnext.rails changes: Fixed exceptions when short_event_descriptor is not...

Re: Build 81.012 Problem
0.81.016 is working great. Comskip now keeps running at full speed when another Idle process using the rest of the CPU.
Nice work erik.

Re: skipping frames at the start of file
Hi erik, I've now tested the ShortSample.mpg above with 0.82.016 and found that the frame types in .timing.csv match the input mpg, so that problem is solved, however there are problems with output_demux. With output_demux enabled it is creating ShortSample.m2v, but ShortSample.mp2 is missing. Also,...

Re: feature suggestion: Now and Next detection
Okay, I've written a program to generate a ProjectX .Xcl file from a transport stream file. The source code is in svn at http://nate.deepcreek.org.au/svn/tools/TSNowAndNext/trunk For anyone who wants a compiled version http://nate.dynalias.net/download/NowAndNext/NowAndNext.zip The zip includes a ba...

Re: maximum length of comskip.ini
Thanks erik. 60kB should cover ini files even with full comments included. The changes of someone having an ini file longer than that are slim.

Re: Build 81.012 Problem
I've also noticed some circumstances where comskip runs really slow, though I'm using 0.80.042 so it mightn't be the same problem. I'm running Win7 x64 on a Dual core E8400. Running comskip with nothing else running I get 400-500fps with around 50% cpu usage (which is essentially fully utilising 1 c...

feature suggestion: Now and Next detection
Hi erik, I have an idea for using the Now and Next information included in a transport stream to punish blocks before and after the show. To cater for tv networks that don't run on time i record an extra 10 minutes at the start and an extra 20 minutes at the end of a show. When running these files t...
