Comskip detects vertical bars but not horizontal

Hi Erik, I've got a source file that is 16:9 but it's broadcast letterboxed in a 16:9 frame which is pillarboxed. So it's got black bars on all sides. Comskip detects the vertical bars and states the source to be 4:3. I notice that the vertical black bars are slightly darker than the horizontal blac...

Re: Comskip, EDL files and mencoder

Thanks Erik. After looking though the various files I decided to analyze the EDLP file. If the values are negative or greater than 95440, I remux and use the EDL file to cut.

Re: Comskip, EDL files and mencoder

Hi Erik, I'm revisiting this thread because I've ran into a number of TS recordings in which the PTS resets in the middle of the file. Is there anything in the comskip logfile that would help me identify when this happens? I've scanned it and didn't see any correlation. If not, would it be possible ...

I ran comskip on a true 720P show. The pts-edl file was much more accurate than any other thing I've tried in the past. There is no drifting where the commercial detection gets progressively further off. The beginnings of the commercials breaks are accurate but the endings tend to be of by a commerc...

The Pentium M laptop came up with the same results. I'm not sure why we're getting different numbers.

I tried it with a P4 and came up with the same negative numbers. I can try it again with a Pentium-M later today. I uploaded my comskip.ini to the FTP server.

I have some initial results and they look good. So far I've only been able to record pillarboxed shows (old sitcom reruns) but comkip looks accurate. I'll hopefully be trying a full HD show tomorrow. I did find one odd result though. I ended up with an EDL file that had negative values... -1704.17 -...

Thanks for the quick turnaround Erik. I'll be testing it out today. Just curious, how is the new EDL created? Does comskip follow the actual PTS values on the marked frame of does comskip use the initial PTS value to modify the original edl values to the new ones? The reason I ask is because it may ...

Comskip, EDL files and mencoder

Hi Erik, When mencoder reads a ts file, it reads the timestamps in the file rather that starting from zero at the beginning of the file and counting up. A typical TS EDL file made by mplayer looks like this... 55410.500000 55427.148438 0 55432.355469 55563.750000 0 Would it be possible for comskip t...

Looks like you're using Mpeg2 for audio, not AC3. I'd try a new version of mencoder. Try here:

Yeah, I sent you an stream a few months ago that had the FPS changes along with some commercial transitions. I could put together another one if you need it.

We talked about this in the past and there was a post in the GBPVR forums involving you, Sub and Jere but I don't know where we stand on it. http://forums.gbpvr.com/showthread.php?t=10872 For ATSC broadcasts that change FPS, comskip correctly identifies the right frames but when it's gets translated...
