Re: Can comskip ignore beginning of file?
Comskip only supports dynamic resolution changes when you set in the ini file thread_count=1 as the current default setting is thread_count=2 Could you try to see if adding the above lines (thread_count=1) solves your problem? That did the trick erik! Much appreciated, I can live with slower comski...

Re: Can comskip ignore beginning of file?
Hi guys Sure Erik, I can upload some of the offending file. I may have a workaround by putting a delay after the channel change command, so that the tuner is more certain to already be on a HD channel when the recording starts, but it would be great if Comskip was also aware of resolution changes in...

Can comskip ignore beginning of file?
Hi I'm using comskip (donator version 81_023) with files recorded on a HD-PVR. I've runinto a problem where the recording starts while the channel is changing from a SD (480P) to an HD (720P) channel. Comskip opens the file, thinks it's 480P then panics when the resolution changes. If I trim off the...

Re: Translucent logos
Thanks Erik, my hand-edited logo files are really improving commercial detection - the logo detection is now bang-on accurate. previewing h.264 does not work very reliable, sorry..... Do you mean it doesn't work at all, or is there anything I can do on my end to enable it? It makes huge diff to see ...

Re: Translucent logos
Hi Erik Thanks for the reply. I ended up clipping out a section of show with a fairly clear logo, and comskip managed to find it. I have been trying to improve the mask by hand editing it and have a few questions about the mask file format. It looks like the "|" symbol indicates left right...

Translucent logos
Hi I have a show that Comskip struggles with, and while playing around with my .ini file I noticed that the logo is translucent; you can see it but the background shows through, so the logo color is not uniform. Can Comskip deal with this? If so I'll go to the effort of clipping out a bit of show th...

Hi erik Prompted by your question, i did a careful comparison of the video in comskipGUI and videoredo. I found that they were identical until around frame 200,000. I then looked at the timing.csv file in notepad (Excel can only open ~65k lines) and discovered that exactly in that location the initi...

Hi Erik Thanks for the reply. I learned about the timestamp issue after posting here, but I wasn't certain that was my problem as I don't have all the symptoms. For example, recordings from the 150MCE playback fine, and I can skip forward and backward no problems. Nevertheless, I applied the recomen...

Major out-of sync w/ Comskip GUI
Hi all I have come across a problem that I think started when I added a second tuner to my machine (a PVR-150MCE). I have gbPVR and run comskip automatically after each show. Lately, when I open some shows in comskipGUI, it looks like comskip ran fine but the video is not sync'd up to the bars in th...

logo files
Hi Erik I hadn't considered that the parameters you mention are relevant; I had focussed on the bitmap stored in the logo files but now I see the coordinates stored at the top of the file. Perhaps a public share of logo files would be unwieldy, given that people likely use different resolutions for ...

+1
I'd like to add my support for this idea. I've been working on tuning for a few shows where the logo doesn't show up for 20-30 seconds, and sometimes Comskip cuts off that first block. There is an official list of these symbols, so bitmaps could even be distributed with Comskip.
THanks!

Thanks Erik - and also thanks for this excellent program. I find it indispensable, we have gotten used to not even seeing ads anymore!
The tuning guide I copied from is the one on the Comskip home page :

Cheers!

Got it!
I had assumed that the -1 values for start and stop meant to play nice always, but they mean play nice never!
One other small thing, I had copy/pasted directly from the tuning Web page, and there's a typo in the play_nice_start parameter (no "=")
Thanks!

How to enable play_nice
I've searched high and low but can't figure out how to enable play_nice with gbPVR. I have added the following lines to my comskip.ini play_nice_sleep=50 play_nice_start-1 play_nice_end=-1 at the top once then at the bottom, no dice. I added a line that just said play_nice still no joy. I am testing...

Logo files
Given how important logo detection is to comskip, it seems like having a good logo.txt file for your favorite channels would speed up and improve comskip. When I look through a series of logo.txt files from a given channel, they all vary slightly. How can I tell which one is most accurate? Also, wou...
