When I drag a show onto the Comskip GUI, and RUN, the program starts, but quickly disappears from screen. But oddly, no log is generated. When a show is recorded using DVRMST, it stops as described in previous post- but a log is generated.

OK- found log file in location you suggested. Ran a test recording- immediately crashed- checked log- bottom line had this message:
WTV files can only be processed by the Donator version I downloaded from http://www.kaashoek.com/files/
NOTE: I am using the 81_043 release

The only log file that I can find is created by DVRMST and is located in C:\User\public\DVRMST\FWLogs and is called showname.log. I am having trouble with getting versions 80-40/80-41 to work with .dvrms files. Is this a known issue?
