Adjusting the cut point within the range of black frames

Post by windyann »

Hello, first post here. Thanks for this great application. I think comskip works extraordinary well given the complexity of what it has to do. I am however looking for a way to adjust the precise cutpoint for the start and end of commercial.

In many typical recordings, and after some careful tuning, Comskip correctly identifies the correct range of black frames at the beginning and end of commercials, and then decides that a specific frame in that range will be the beginning and end of the commercial.

What I would like to do is keep the identification of the range of black frames, which is good, and select as a cut point the first black frame of that range at the beginning of commercial, and the last black frame at the end of commercial. The comskip cut point is often 50 to 60 frames after the first black frame at the beginning, and 20-30 frames before the last black frame at the end.
Padding apparently works only with positive numbers to shrink the commercial, not extend it.

I would appreciate any advice on how to implement that improvement.
