Another newbe question. In the ini it says "live_tv=0 ; set to 1 if you use parallelprocessing and need the output while recording" I don't need the output while recording but was wondering if this setting would speed things up on a dual core system. I am using Comskip with DVRMStoolbox.

No, live_tv=1 will slow things down because there is output written to the disk every second.
Comskip is pure single thread.
