There are a number of video players that can read comskip output and use it for playback.
Examples I know of are mplayer and zoomplayer.
Did you try these?
Or do you only archive?

Yes, I do archive some, but lesser and lesser.
Experimenting with XBMC right now and it seem do ok reading .edl files. Not very smooth playback between cuts though, but it will do. You're right it's time to scrap the video editors entirely. Again, big thanks for your excellent work :D
