Hi, I'm fairly new to the digital TV/mpeg world and trying to get an understanding of how it works. ComSkip appears to be a great application, thanks for providing it!
Question: when it comes to ad detection, do broadcasters use any standard such as ANSI/SCTE 35 2004 ("Digital Program Insertion Cueing Message for Cable")? http://www.scte.org/documents/pdf/ANSISCTE352004.pdf (That is a U.S. standard but it may have been promoted to a JTC1 standard, I'm not sure.) Does ComSkip look for these messages?
Thanks.
Standard(s) for digital ad insertion
Comskip works entirely in the decoded domain. Comskip retains no information on how the mpeg has been coded as TS, PS or DVR-MS.
I do not know if the TS that is used for digital recording contains the information you mention.
I wrote my own TS demux and I was not aware that this kind of info could be present. Anyone out there that knows more?
