external subtitles as 'helper'

Post by jhh »

hi,

Would it be possible to include external subtitle files .srt or whatever as a helper? I'm recording from satellite and extract teletext subtitles to .srt file. So I could have external subtitles available before starting comskip.

When the program has not started or is not subtitled they say something like:

888: subtitles
more info on 889

also when there is a commercial they don't show at all.

So without too much knowledge sitting in the way it looks like this would give a good indication for detection or am I overlooking the obvious?

Could you do me a favor and process a recording with verbose=10 and output_framearray=1 set and zip and send me the generated .csv file and the associated .srt file and the .log file?

hi Eric,

Not sure what you want me to do - I extract the subtitles with ProjectX (http://sourceforge.net/projects/project-x/). I've tried setting .srt =1 in comskip.ini and did not get subtitles. As I couldn't find where to config the teletext page to extract from I assumed you are extracting CC or DVB subtitles.

So would it be ok if the .srt was not comskip generated?

hm - I doubt whether this is a good idea - I've noticed in playback that subtitles are off up to 15 seconds. I don't think it is any help having a indication which is that far off.

too bad.
