I'm planning a new dvr system. All it will do is record tv from SiliconDust HDHomeRun Prime and run comskip. Playback is from a different machine. TV is mostly HD H264. I'll be running MythTV so comskip will run under wine. My two questions:

1) Will L3 cache help comskip run faster? How much faster?
2) Should I get a high-power gpu? When might it be useful to comskip?

Thanks,
Jeff

PS: this will be an AMD system. I worked there for too long to buy Intel.

Yes, L3 cache will help.
HW supported decoding is not working very well at the moment so the CPU does most of the work
Required speed will depend on the number of parallel recordings you make and when you want to see the result.
If you have only 2 recordings max in parallel then even an A4-5000 would be sufficient.
