Is it possible to use comskip as an live commercial detection.

So without a big timeshift.

So into comskip is going an live video stream and he wil detect within a few seconds there is a commercial?

Is that possible?

Thanks

If I recall correctly, live commercial skip is possible with dvrms format, but not wtv. At least not as of yet. Here's hoping its soon.

If you need live detection use build 0.80.42

If you still need live TV you can test build 0.81.034
It contains test code for live TV.
Prefer if you run with dragging and dropping an ongoing recording onto comskip.exe
There should be messages about waiting while reading.

Could you explain how your live detection works?

Is it so that if I put an ongoing recording onto comskip.exe I get an result in a splitt seconds and says it is a commercial or not?

I assume 0.81 is only for donators?

Live detection means Comskip can start to process while recording is ongoing.
It will always run a bit behind

That depends.
When recording to .ts or .mpg comskip is at least the size of a typical commercial behind (say 30 seconds)
For dvr-ms its typically 2 minutes
For .wtv it would be around 10 minutes.

even at 10 minutes behind, that is substantial. Instead of first waiting 10 minutes to start processing, then about another 10 to 20 to process a half hour show (in my case), meaning you have to wait half an hour after a show to watch it, you can start watching a show 10 minutes after it starts. And it also helps alleviate the shows stacking up an not finishing before the nightly reboot.

I can't wait, that's for sure!

I tried version 81.34 this weekend with live detection. Unfortunately it's still not working right for me. About 2/3 of the way through an hour program it just quits. This is closer, but still not done yet. Any tweaks I should be trying?

Not working for me on live mpeg2 .wtv files. Using the drag and drop method.
It goes into a "sleep while seeking" mode abit the shuts down somewhere before the live show is over.

Tried it on a 30 min Entourage episode, live method found two cuts, running it after the show was over found three cuts.

73.87 195.26 0
529.43 780.75 0

vs.

73.87 195.80 0
529.43 680.05 0
995.93 1239.87 0

Will keep trying.....
by the way using comskip81_034_donators

Could you test comskip as described
That is,

set verbose=10 in comskip.ini
Make a small batch file with the following content
Code:
c:/path/to/comskip.exe %1 2>stderr.log >stdout.log

Start a recording of 30 minutes, wait 10 minutes
Drag and drop the ongoing growing .ts file onto created batch file
Comskip should start
Wait till comskip terminates (hopefully after the recording finishes)
Send me the three log files (stderr.log, stdout.log and the regular comskip generated log file)
