Mac OS X 10.8 version for use with KMTTG
Hi,
I use KMTTG. It comes with a command line version of comskip 0.79.144 that works on Mac. I'd like to upgrade to the latest version (and saw that one just came out today). How do I get a Mac OS X version? I can compile the source myself, but the source isn't available as a zip. I got svnX and downloaded but it only has revision 54, not 55 which came out today. And there is no ./configure?
I'm quite willing to donate, but I'd really like a clear understanding of the where the latest source is to use (which works with Mac), how to compile it for Mac, if there is a GUI version available for mac, etc.
Thanks,
Ken

Most people use comskip on mac with wine

Oh, yes you're right! It came yesterday and there was no notice/announcement about it on forum. Perhaps it's an unofficial version?KenBotwinick wrote:Hi,

Its a formal bugfix release.
I normally do not make a lot of publicity on new builds except when big new functionality is added

Yes, I know, but you usually do tip off the guys who have reported bugs that a new build is available. In this case I suppose you were very sure bug was gone that wasn't necessary

That wasn't nearly as helpful as I was hoping for... I guess I won't be donating.

Sorry KenBotwinick for hijacking your thread. I didn't mean to. Hopefully Erik or someone else could provide the info you're after.KenBotwinick wrote:That wasn't nearly as helpful as I was hoping for... I guess I won't be donating.

No worries. I'd really like the latest and greatest, but it looks like I will need to use the Linux version from here:

KenBotwinick,
There is no Mac build of comskip, it is, as erik stated, run by way of wine.

Both KMTTG and cTiVo both ship with command line versions of comskip that work on Mac without any need for Wine. I can understand that you don't want to refer possible paying customers to someone else, but saying that you need Wine is misleading.

I was assuming you where using the Etv version of Comskip

Re: Mac OS X 10.8 version for use with KMTTG
I think those programs may be using a compile of a different branch of comskip.
Running one generates:
Comskip 0.79.126, made using:
comskip-0.4.1-cvs - by Michel Lespinasse <walken@zoy.org> and Aaron Holtzman
I don't believe there is a Mac compiled version or source code for this branch of comskip. That said, it does run perfectly well under wine.

Re: Mac OS X 10.8 version for use with KMTTG
I have found that the branches are different and I do want functionality that exists in this one.
I've also found that Wine does work fine. I did not think it was going to be seamless. I thought using it would disrupt my automated workflow, but it doesn't. And after a few days of experimentation I have most things ironed out.
I will donate to Comskip for the enhanced version with multithreading, etc...
