Hi-

I use the latest comskip with SageTV. Recenly I enabled live_tv. It seems to me like there has been a performance hit. Is it possible that this would decrease the speed at which comercials are processed?

Could you be a it more precise about what you mean with "performance"

Is the quality of the detection less during live TV?
That is indeed true. During live_tv a much less powerfull algorithm is used because the global information is not available and the gloabl heuristics can not be used, however, once the recording finishes all the global processing is done so the final result should be of the same quality.

The speed of processing is different because comskip slows down once reaching the current end of the recording to keep in line with how the recording progresses

I mean, does comskip use more resources (i.e. CPU or increased HD use) when live_tv is enabled?

Thanks, Mike

Just a very little bit.
Every second, when new commercials are found, the list of found commercials will be written to the disk.
The impact is regarded as neglectable so the short answer is

No impact at all.
Actually, as a user of the computer you don't experience the high peakload that comskip generates when running full speed so many people do prefer the live_tv mode
