comskip --quiet ,,, isn't

Post by mgarrett »

I am calling comskip from a script and I would like to minimize the console chatter, but even if I set verbose=0 in the ini file
and use -q or --quiet on the command line, I still get at least this much console output:

Comskip 0.81.056, made using avcodec

Are there settings that I could enable to cut that down?

You can redirect the stdout and stderr to the null device
Google for howto do that.

Well, I'm working in a bit of an odd environment where a normal console redirect isn't working for some reason. I'm using cygwin to allow me to get a shell to the windows box via ssh and then running a windows version of perl to call comskip in either a system() or `` (back tick) call. I'm sure it is some level of ignorance that is preventing my 2>&1 redirect not to work, but I can' tell what layer isn't working. That's why I tried the --quiet in the first place.

It obviously isn't working, and I don't expect a fix for it. In the grand scheme of things, I'm delighted to be using a working commercial skip after fighting with SA for a few years.
Console spam is a nit pick.

YOu can set
verbose=0
to get the least output but that does not stop the error messages from the video decoder
