HideRun has stopped working - Windows 8.1

So one day after a year of happy Comskipping I noticed that my recent recordings from NPVR/XBMC were no longer skipping the commercials.

After a bit of investigating, I found that HideRun is failing to run from my PostProcessing script. Trying to run HideRun from the command line gives me a Windows error pop-up "HideRun has stopped working."

This post: viewtopic.php?p=7262#p7262 suggests that Windows 8.1 may be to blame. Is this a known issue? Is there a work-around or alternative?

You have to run hiderun.exe manually once and tell windows its ok to run it

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, I get the same error when I double-click the file in Windows Explorer as when I try to run it from the command line. Or did you mean something else by running it manually?

I don'have windows 8 myself so I only echo what I hear from others.
Anyone with own experience?

I just tried right-click then Run as administrator which did bring up the User Account Control dialog, but after clicking Yes, HideRun still crashed straight away same as before. Is there a log file or anything else I can send you that might help?

Did you try to use hiderun/comskip in the normal way?
Or did you only try to run hiderun?

Yes, I can drag and drop files onto comskip.exe and comskipgui.exe and it will work fine as before. It's only hiderun that isn't working.

I mean, now you have given hiderun permission to run, does it still not work?

Did you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem. I activated .net 3.5 through Windows 10 and it just keeps giving me hiderun has stopped working. If I drag a file onto the gui or comskip.exe it works. Hiderun automatically crashes, every time, every way.

From your postprocessing.bat you can also run comskip with this commandline

start "comskip" /MIN c:\path\to\comskip.exe %1 %2 %3

it will run comskip in a minimized window without taking the focus so if you run a fullscreen application you won't notice comskip started

substitute %1 %2 %3 with the parameters for running comskip (recording etc...)
