hardware acceleration blues

Here you can ask your questions on how to use Comskip for the detection of commercials. Also questions on how to remove commercials are welcome

This sounds very nice. I would enjoy very much testing it for you. Please send me the new version and I will send you my logs. I understand there will be bugs. thanks

Can you test build 0.81.087?
The threaded video processing is not influenced by thread_count
It always uses 4 threads
Can you test the speed increase?
For h.264 the increase should not be big.
For mpeg 2 with lowres=10 the increase should be the biggest.
If you set lowres to 10 it will automatically find the best speed/quality compromise

I just downloaded it and started a new recording. Comskip should kick in in about 20 min. Please note, I still use wmc so all of my recordings are h264. I set lowres=10 and I am set to use hardware decoding. I am using my old comskip.ini file. I will let you know how it goes soon. thanks

with the thread_count option removed i got 2290.52 fps. cpu load was around 24% just for comskip. again the gpu appeared not to kick in. I am testing it again with thread_count=4 on a new recording. I will let you know how it goes in about a hour. thanks

with thread_count=4 i noticed a significant improvement. I got a fps of 3138.52 cpu load was fluctuating around 36% for comskip and I still don't think it used the gpu. It may be helpful to users without a i7 processor if they could set the number of threads for processing instead of it being hard coded. It appears as if you broke the performance limit that you referred to earlier thanks

I just found your github page and took a quick look at ffmpeg_dxva2.c. I think I now know why hardware decoding is not working for me. In a few places i noticed that your code is designed for a intel gpu and I have a nvidia gpu. Please keep in mind that I am no coding expert and I looked very fast. thanks

sorry wmc recorded in mpeg2 format not h264. It must be the new tuner

In this recording it took a long time before logo was found.
After finding logo the processing is restarted, that is why it is slower in total as logo searching takes more time

Is that a problem with comskip or my recording? Most of my recordings are on that channel. thanks

edit:

I just read your email about pre-learned logos. I use mcebuddy to do all of the processing automatically and i don't think there is a option for that. I may be wrong though.

Its not a problem but a characteristic of your recording
Drag and drop the recording on comskipgui.exe and you will see why

I just got a fps of 2643.91 on another recording from the same channel. It must have something to do with the channel. I am sending you the log but i think we are dealing with the same thing. Just curious when will comskip support dxva2 on a nvidia gpu. I would be more than glad to test any code changes aimed at reaching this goal. Thanks

I just got your email. I am assuming that it is normal to have such inconsistencies in logo detection. thanks
