AAC Channels Change

Post by Michael »

Hi,

I was wondering if there was a way to detect AAC audio changing from 2 to 6 channels? This is quite common on Freeview in the UK and almost always signifies an ad break.

Thanks,

Michael

Thanks for the quick reply, I certainly can. Is there an FTP to upload to?

Edit : I've emailed you a small clip

As mailed, I added the detection and now testing if it makes sense to use the info in real recordings

First impression from evaluating a number of recordings is rather disappointing
Many false positives as every bitstream error can generate a channel transition and many programs switch # of channels during the show

That's a shame, I'd be happy to run it through on my recordings and report back my results.
