Hello,
I saw on VLC forum that there was a discussion over a year ago about getting VLC to understand output from comskip.
http://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16685
Is there any progress on this issue?
I find VLC a superior player to zoomplayer and all others, it would be great if comskip could produce something like cut/chapter files for VLC.
Regards,
Support for VLC player
Re: Support for VLC player
No progress at VLC side.
I am willing to add whatever output format VLC likes.

I have not been asked any question
Maybe you can revive the topic at the VLC forum

Re: Support for VLC player
Sorry for digging out this thread, but I was wondering if XSPF format is suitable for commercial skipping and if it's supported already (couldn't find it on latest donator's but I might be blind):

What player do you suggest to use?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Support for VLC player
Comskip can not output XSPF.
Can someone test if a playlist written in XSPF with a number of tracks referring to always the same file and the start/stop defineing each of the show segments would work in an acceptable way.
Once that is confirmed it would be possible to add a bare minimum XSPF output to comskip that mirrors the tested playlist

Re: Support for VLC player
According to this, it does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edit_decis ... DL_cutting (still can't use forum URL tag)
I am not sure how to create a test, but I will do my best.
EDIT: A deeper search revealed this: https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=56998
So I've got lazy and decided to try using M3U instead
Input tesfile.edl file (as created by comskip):
Output testfile.m3u file (as built by me for VLC):
Result: VLC jumps correctly to correct segments: Success!
But this method doesn't let me see segments that are cut by mistake by comskip, so I guess I still need an advice of a standalone player (i.e. not XBMC) that can do that, any ideas?
