NZ Freeview Log Errors

Post by sheppy99 »

I've just turned on logging to try and tune the commercial detection with the EA version and NZ HD Freeview in TS format and I've noticed many errors. I'm guessing they are something to do with the AAC-HE Codec we use in NZ? If so any chance of a fix? I'm happy to supply you with any segments to test with. A selection of the errors are below.
Cheers

In case anyone else needs help with NZ Freeview, my solution to this problem was to use VideoReDo V4 to convert the files to H264 with MP2 sound as Comskip can't decode the AAC-LATM sound used in NZ.

@Sheppy99 -

I'm getting back to trying Comskip on NZ Freeview after a couple of years time. Sounds like Erik never got the AAC-LATM audio working directly. I considered the notion of converting the files, but didn't have time to pursue it.

Would you please elaborate on your solution?

Thanks,
Peter

Did you test the new 0.81.xxx builds?
A completely new set of audio/video decoders.

If ffplay can play the NZ freeview then Comskip can decode.

I'm just playing with the latest build now, looking in the excel file it does have volume levels listed but sometimes they start late - one test file started at frame 7403!
Advert scanning also fails due to no silence at the cutpoints. It does however find the start and finish of the program. This is using a config that works if I change the file to MPEG2 first.
The log has many instances of "Panic volume buffer" which may be down to more than one audio stream being in the file.
Is there a way of setting which audio stream comskip should use?
Can you give me a pointer to where I can get ffplay to test with?

FFPlay can't start because SDL.dll is missing from my computer apparently.
Adding SDL.dll downloaded from http://www.libsdl.org/download-1.2.php changes the error to "the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."
Any clues?

Sorry, I packed the wrong version. This was the one with shared libraries.
Will notify you when the new version is available.

Don't suppose you've had time time to sort this?

I added the missing dll to the ffplay.zip file.
Can you download again and test you can run ffplay?

Hi Erik,

I guess this is only available in the early access area, since I've never tried this before but it does fail for me on NZ Freeview is there anyway to get access to test?

Cheers
