Dual Core

Post by Nortafett »

Any chance a version that can take advantage of a computer running a dual core. In the future? I would be available to test it out. Hehe once the kitchen is painted.

No, the real CPU load is generated by the video mpeg decoder.
I am afraid that's too complex to convert into a dual core solution.
The rest of the processing is less then 10% of the load.

But how long does the processing of a 2 hour recording take on such a modern computer?
wish I had one, my recording and comskip run on a 400MHz Celeron......

With a P4 3.06Ghz (Hyperthreaded):

35 minutes to run comskip on a 64 minute 1080i MPEG-TS file
21 minutes to run comskip on a 64 minute SD MPEG recorded at DVD 2.5GB/hr

This I recognize
21 minutes to run comskip on a 64 minute SD MPEG recorded at DVD 2.5GB/hr
This is WAY to slow
On a 18.GHz pentium mobile comskip processes SD at DVD 2.5GB/hr at least at 400fps meaning it should be ready in about 5 minutes.

whoops... my SD time was at the beginning of the night when many videos are being processed... here's one later in the day... it should be the only one running...

8 minutes for a 64 minute SD MPEG recorded at 720x480 2.5gb/hr
