Skip h264 detection

Post by ssjunior »

Hi Erik,

I tested the h264 detection and it is a little bit slow on my quad core. Since I use it with Media Portal in my living room the detection on HD channels is making the hard disk very noise while working. Is there a way to avoid h264 detection and leave it working only in standard definition encodings?

best regards

No, but you could use the non donator version, that will very quickly go over the h.264 files without doing much processing. It will read the file so the disk access will be there anyway.

Ok, since it is not possible to avoid the file reading, I am trying to use the play nice configuration, but it is not working. Looks like a bug. Could you please take a look at my other post?

I assume you aren't using SageTV? If so, I'd direct you to Sage Job Queue (SJQ), since you can use rules for when and what gets processed.

I am using Media Portal. I am trying to use play nice, but, I think it is not working as it should be.

My .ini configuration:

play_nice_start=2000
play_nice_end=0300

Running commskip manualy I can see:

ComSkip throttles back from 2000 to 0300.
The time is now 0507 so comskip is running slowly.

If the time is 0507 why is commskip running slowly and not at full speed?

best regards

The playnice algorithm requires the start time to be less then the end time so you can not pass midnight, maybe something for the todo list
