Comskip Support Forum

I searched the forum for info regarding .incommercial files and only found two entries. Can someone help me understand what these files are? I am running SageTV and using SJQ to run Comskip on my media files. I recently upgraded from version 2.X of SJQ to 3.X and now instead of seeing .edl files I see .incommercial files.
Are they the same? Any info would be appreciated.

The .incommercial file contains a 1 while comskip assume it is processing live tv and inside a commercial
Otherwise it contains a 0
You should set
output_edl=1
in your comskip.ini file

I checked and that is the setting I have.It looks like it is creating edl files for SiliconDust HD Homerun mpg files, but not creating edl and only creating incommercial files for HDPVR created ts files.

Are the ts files h.264?
If so, you need the donator version.

I am using the donated version already. This worked until one day in a power outage my portable UPS ran out and my SageTV system went down. Not sure if it is a coincidence, but that was about the timeline. I am now updating to a newer donated version and trying that. I notice the new .ini had volume slip setting at 40. Do you still recommend 150 for H.264 (ts) files?
Is there anywhere in the ini I need to tell Comskip what kind of files to process? I put the new ini file in there and will change volume slip to 150 and try that.

PS, I verified volume slip was 150 in my old (used to be working) setup

Noticed my old ini had detect set to 47 while the stock ini is 43. Should I try 43 in your opinion? My max_volume was also set at 0 in my old setting so I am changing that in the stock ini as also.


EDIT:
I am running the newest donator version and SJQ in SageTV queues up the h.264 files just fine to process them, but it will not generate an edl file. On h.264 files it will generate a .log, .logo.txt and a .txt file while processing then all will disappear leaving just an .incommercial file. Here is a paste of the .log file and hopefully that will have some clues for you.

Where will the files you want be stored by default when they generate on my system?

Here is a paste of a post I have on SageTV forums with the author of SJQ. He seems to think SJQ is operating correctly. Something is causing the log files and edl files to be deleted after the comskip run on a h.264 file and only leave a incommercial file.


I am now running SJQ 3.0.2.790 with the hopes of fixing my issue with Comskip not generating edl files on h.264 files. I am running the latest version of "donator" comskip and been working with erik on his forum. erik so far thinks comskip is working properly. I have output_edl=1 setting (always did)

SJQ and comskip work fine on mpg files. When they run on h.264 files it appears to work as .log files are created and an .edl is created and as soon as it is done the edl and log files disappear with only a .incommercial file remaining on all these files. I have been running 2 cores on files over the past couple of days and am getting nowhere.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Any comments are appreciated.

Response from SJQ author:
Seems like SJQ is running your tasks properly. I'd probably head over to the comskip forums and see what causes the edl, etc. to be deleted and only the .incommercial file to remain. I've personally never seen this .incommercial file.

Edit:
I have just emailed you copies of the log and edl files that are generated on h.264 files that disappear and leave only an incommercial file. The files are not in the recycle bin and only are visible for a short time at the end of processing.

Hi erik,

I just wanted to let you know I found what was causing my issues with edl files being auto-deleted after creation. I had Comskip Monitor installed way back and had just left it after I started using SJQ. During troubleshooting I had modified it not to delete any files, but did not think it was running so I thought I was grasping at straws. Earlier today I ran the uninstall bat file and that was my issue.
