Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
I just built comskip on my CentOS 7 server and I want to use the GUI to fine tune the detected commercials before cutting them out. However when I run the comskip GUI, it process everything and shows the window as expected, but once detection finishes the window closes and the commercial files are written. Has anyone seen this behavior before?
I also have comskip on another windows box and it is working as expected there.

Re: Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
Could be caused when failing to position to start of recording after scanning.
YOu can test by manually open in comskipGUI, move to end of file and jump back to start and see if you get positioning errors in the text window

Re: Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
How do I do that? As soon as I launch comskip-gui it starts processing the file and there is no way to seek until it finishes.erik wrote:Could be caused when failing to position to start of recording after scanning.

Re: Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
Launch comskipgui with the create .txt file instead of the recording.
This will allow you to scan through the recording

Re: Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
When I run comskip-gui <filename>.txt I can seek to the end and back to the beginning without any issues. The window remains open as expected.erik wrote:Launch comskipgui with the create .txt file instead of the recording.

Re: Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
Erik, any other thoughts at what could be causing the window to close?erik wrote:Launch comskipgui with the create .txt file instead of the recording.

Re: Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
when you start comskipGUI processing a file from a shell do you see any messages from comskipGUI or does it just exit?
Can you find the exit status?

Can you set

run again and post the log file?

Re: Linux comskip GUI window auto closes
I know this thread is ancient. I experienced the same problem in the past of the GUI window closing as soon as comskip finished processing the file.
Fast forward to current time and the GUI is working as expected. The window stays open after comskip-gui processing, I can move about with keys "n", "p", etc. I can also reprocess by running comskip-gui on the *.csv file to see how changes in the ini alter commercial detection. I have tried this on openSUSE Tumbleweed and will be trying it out on Fedora, Debian and Arch in the future.
