Profile ini for Pardon the Interruption?

Post by linguica101 »

I love watching this show, but the default ini file never gets the commercials right. I'm hoping someone already has a custom ini file for ESPN or more specifically for Pardon the Interruption?

Sorry it took so long for someone to find you with an answer, but it's taken me a while to figure it out myself. However, I've found a solution that has been working flawlessly for me.

It turns out the the problem with PTI is the scroll of sports news highlights that ESPN likes to crawl along the bottom of the screen during many of their broadcasts. That crawl confuses Comskip. Fortunately, you can tell Comskip to ignore the bottom portion of the screen.

Open the comskip.ini file, and find the line that says "ticker_tape=0" This is the line that tells Comskip how many pixels at the bottom of the screen to ignore. The default is 0 (zero), so that Comskip looks at the entire screen.

I found a forum thread elsewhere from a long time ago where the user said that by changing that line to "ticker_tape=50", he got Comskip to properly delete commercials from Pardon the Interruption. Basically, Comskip is ignoring the bottom portion of the screen where the news scroll is crawling.

However, changing the number to 50 did not work for me. Neither did 100. Eventually I changed the line to "ticker_tape=300", and it worked to perfection. I hope it continues that way! I will also be testing with Mike and Mike, to see how it works there as well.

Also, I haven't noticed any problems with commercial deletions in any of my other recorded shows, so color me happy at this point!
