how to get more processor performance

Forgive me if this has been answered already but I searched the boards and didn't see anything.

Here's my question, got comskip setup using mpeg2shnitt and it works great. Was wondering if there's any way to make it faster. Yes, I am using a usb drive for the video files and that could be slowing it down, but also wanted to know if there's anyway to make the app faster? I noticed that on average when it's running my cpu is only at 5-10% utilized. I'm running a Core2Duo 2.6 with 2gig of ram, and wanted to know if there's anyway I could get it to use more the CPU and get it to go faster. Forgive me if this is a retarded question.

Could you make a small recording and put it on a native drive and the test the speed?
Comskip, when not input speed limited, will use at least one full core (50% on a core duo)
